Audi’s David Bowie Super Bowl ad will get you right in the feels
04 February 2016

Someone’s been watching the John Lewis Christmas advert, haven’t they.

Pulling at the heartstrings that earned the British department store’s Man In The Moon advert almost 25 million YouTube hits (and a bunch of brilliant parody edits), car manufacturer Audi has enlisted its very own silent elderly man, thrown in a helping of tear-jerking isolation and sprinkled the lot with themes of lunar travel for their dollar-spinning Super Bowl advert.

But in true American TV spirit, the ad takes the can’t-fail formula and goes even bigger. There're rockets lifting off. There's a car burning rubber at speed around winding mountain roads. There's a gut-wrenching sucker punch of guilt that has us all questioning whether we spend enough time with our dads. Oh, and there’s the little detail of our dearly departed David Bowie providing the classic rock soundtrack. Blimey, it’s a ninety-second emotional rollercoaster.

If it’s not left you completely exhausted, check out the rest of the best Super Bowl adverts here. They’re slightly less demanding on the feelings, honest.
