This might be the worst professional dive ever attempted

As any man who’s ever dived into a swimming pool at the wrong trajectory can attest, it can be a painful and shaming experience.

This said, we’re pretty sure the anatomy of Australian athlete Maddison Keeney won’t be quite as wounded as her pride right now after she was captured on camera failing spectacularly at the World Diving Championships over in Russia.

Looking to pull off a 3.2 (read: difficult) dive on her fifth attempt, which, if successful, may have rocketed her to the top of the rankings, Keeney then went and did the improbable: she fell off the platform and failed to register a single point, her audible whimper while heading to the water just adding to the awkwardness.

Now, outside of watching top-level Spanish football, we don’t know much about professional diving, though we’re pretty sure the belly flop won’t put points on the board. But still, it’s one way to make a splash.

It’s a 0.0 from the judges but a whopping 9.9 from us.
