Want to watch Paulo Dybala score a free-kick past 20 goalkeepers? Course you do

Sometimes you’ll see a footballer score a goal so good the commentator will joke that even two goalkeepers couldn’t have saved it. Bearing that in mind, Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has decided to fight his own personal battle against cliché.

“Two goalkeepers?” the Argentine asks, fronting up to Jonathan Pearce like a sentient Sgt Bash finally getting his revenge. “Pfft. Why not 20.” Except, y’know, in Spanish.

Do we know why Dybala was given 20 keepers to score past? No. Do we know why none of the 20 thought it necessary to use their hands to try to save the ball? Also no. Do either of these things matter? Well you’re here because you wanted to see one man score past 20, so we’ll guess that’s also in the negative.

The 23-year-old has been dubbed the ‘new Messi’ by those unable to generate original descriptions for footballers, but in fairness the ability to score pinpoint left-footed free-kicks makes the comparison more valid than some others.

His antics in a charity game bring to mind Spain international Joseba Etxeberria’s testimonial, during which the winger and his Athletic Bilbao teammates took to the field against 200 children.

Once the new season gets underway, we’re sure there will be pressure heaped on Dybala and the rest of the Juve squad. But for now, we’re just happy to let football be stupid.
