10 under the radar players set to shine at Euro 2016
07 June 2016

Hear that? Listen closer. No, closer still: it's our heart beating, a millisecond faster with every hour that passes between now and Euro 2016.

Can you blame us? You don't need the uncontrollable excitement levels of Clive Tyldesley to be roused by the prospect of a European Championships, where once again the next batch of diamonds in the rough will be unearthed (and promptly snapped up by a Premier League giant for well over the odds).

With this in mind, we’ve asked Russell Cane (no, not that one - we mean Content Manager at daily fantasy football site Oulala), who’s chalked up some 26 wins in Telegraph Fantasy Football, Sun Dream Team, and Daily Mail Fantasy Football, to identify 10 under-the-radar players you really ought to be including in your own fantasy team this month.

Radja Nainggolan, Roma and Belgium

Position: Midfielder

"Belgium's current generation is awash with talent. While the midfielder may not steal the limelight from the likes of Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, he is an extraordinary two-way midfielder, capable of building up play as well as breaking it down. Featuring regularly in qualifying, the 28-year-old is key if Belgium are to have any hopes of glory this summer."

Andriy Yarmolenko, Dynamo Kiev and Ukraine

"A physical frame and strong in the air are not qualities generally expected in a wide man. Throw in speed, the capability of going past players and excellent change-of-direction abilities, the 26-year-old is every full-back's worst nightmare. Six goals and two assists in qualifying highlights why Ukraine's talisman is expected to shine this summer."

Artem Dzyuba, Zenit Saint Petersburg and Russia

Position: Forward

"Physically, the perfect target man standing at six feet five inches in height, while his ability to also receive the ball on the deck makes the Russian striker difficult to predict. Scoring eight goals in eight appearances in qualifying, along with two assists, the 27-year-old will be a major threat to English, Welsh and Slovakian defences."

Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Bayer Leverkusen and Turkey

Position: Midfielder

"The 22-year-old is best known as one of Europe's top free kick specialists. Creativity, nimble feet and a smart turn of pace, the talented youngster has many strings to his bow. Throw in speed, strength in possession and an ability to find a defence-splitting pass and you have all the ingredients to a player ready to explode on the big stage."

Breel Embolo, Basel and Switzerland

Position: Forward

"As one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe, the talented 19-year-old exudes pace, power and trickery. His strength to fend off defenders and an excellent ability to hold up play was evident in qualifying, registering four assists and a goal in five appearances for his country."

Ivan Perišić, Inter Milan and Croatia
