If there's one thing we know about Noel Clarke it's that he's a serious multitasker. Here's a chap who has written, directed and starred in his own films (Kidulthood and Adulthood) and won his fair share of prestigious awards (a BAFTA and an Olivier, no less). Did we also mention he was Mickey in Doctor Who?
In a bid to make him seem like a much less awesome guy, we asked Noel to tell us his guilty pleasures. Somehow he ended up looking even cooler. Well played Noel, well played.
It's between Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore and She’s All That with Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Junior. Listen man, She’s All That was the film that brought back teen films. The best scene is when she takes off her glasses and everyone realises she's actually gorgeous and they play that song [sings passable version of Sixpence None The Richer's Kiss Me]. But if I had to pick, I'd choose Never Been Kissed because it's just a nice story, man. Plus Jessica Alba’s in it looking really fit.
Girls. Lena Dunham's writing is great. Let me tell you, when you can see someone who can write, act and direct I just sit back and I applaud. I've watched the first couple of episodes and I've really enjoyed it. For me, it's about knowing what girls think. I've always been like that, you know, wanting to know what women are thinking. I watched all of Sex and the City too. It's very much the same, in a way, but SATC was filled with shoes and shopping, so you could never really tell if they were thinking with their head or their feet.
Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill will go down in the history of music. It’s modern even though it’s like 15 years old or something. My favourite track is You Oughta Know [again, starts singing]. I’ve definitely still got it somewhere. But I know if I told my mates, they’d be shocked. They wouldn’t give it the time of day. If I told them I was a fan they’d be like ‘you f**king what?’.
My guilty pleasure song is without a doubt Kiss From A Rose by Seal. My mates in the past would have dismissed this too. But that's why they didn’t have girlfriends and I did! That song is so awesome, it still gives me chills, man. The best time to listen to it is when I'm on the tube and it’s crowded and people are doing my nut and I’ve got an armpit in my face.
I can eat a 12 box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in one sitting. It's all about the maple glazed ones. Seriously, I just can’t have them around me. Roughly 10 years ago, when they first came out in the UK, I lived next to a 24-hour Tesco and I used to just get up and go get a Krispy Kreme. I wouldn't like to guess how many I've eaten in total. Too many.
Over the years I’ve read a lot of girly books like Gossip Girl and The Vagina Monologues. I really enjoyed The Girl With A One Track Mind by Abbey Lee too. I don't think any of that would go down well with my mates.
