Two Door Cinema Club have set the indie world alight since forming in 2007, releasing two critically-acclaimed albums and firmly establishing themselves as a live force.

In addition to headlining a show at London's O2 Arena on December 13, they're also embarking on their sideline profession of DJing, playing an exclusive set at the upcoming Kitsuné Club Night - The Winter Edition, which takes place this coming Saturday (7th December) at Fire, London, where they join a stellar lineup including Todd Edwards, Beataucue, Logo, Krystal Klear and Gigamesh.

We caught up with bassist Kevin Baird to discuss their DJ style, funny stories and what clubgoers can expect from their forthcoming set...

What is your best and worst memory as a DJ?

The worst was definitely in Glasgow. I was booked so last minute that I only had enough time to scramble 3 CDs of compilations of great music I'd made. To my horror as I walked in the house DJ was blasting Sum 41 and Blink 182 and what's worse, the crowd was going wild! I lasted about 20 minutes before getting booed off the stage. Probably because the closest thing I had to a commercial radio single was Daft Punk! The best was probably in this amazing club right on the water in Alicante called Rockers. Great people. Great vibe.

How do you choose which songs to remix and how do you work on them, do you have a pattern or is this just feelings?

We like to split up the work in the band. The remixing comes from Sam our guitar player so I couldn't really speak on his behalf.

What have you been listening to lately and what should we expect to hear in your DJ set?

I've been enjoying a lot recently such as Snakehips, Girls Names, Hurdles, Bonobo, Blende, Trentmøller...the list goes on. My sets are usually very up tempo and easy to get down to.

What is your ‘go-to/break-glass-in-case-of-emergency’ record to play in your DJ set?

R Kelly - Ignition.

What’s the greatest DJ set you’ve ever seen?

I hate watching djs who make it look like they're really busy and doing lots of things because I know the song, I can hear they're fiddling with the "does fuck all" knob. For that reason I love watching 2manydjs. They're always super busy and you can hear why.

Can you beat match a 12", or are you strictly digital?

I think I've done it once... i was djing at a frat house party in the US and I was very drunk so maybe is the answer.

Would there be any record you’d flat out refuse to play?

Only when people request Two Door Cinema Club.

What’s your strangest experience in a club?

I went to a club in my home town in Ireland on A-Level results night. One girl stripped naked and ran around with a lilo. Not sure if she was celebrating or drowning her sorrows.

What can we expect from Two Door Cinema Club in the near future?

The near future holds our biggest ever headline show to date. We'll be playing the O2 in London on the 13th December. After that we're starting work on our 3rd record and taking a bit of a break from touring.
