To say that Joy Division are one of the most influential groups of all time would be a severe understatement.
The Salford & Manchester-based four piece, consisting of Stephen Morris, Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner and Ian Curtis were pioneers of the post-punk movement, releasing their two classic studio albums, Unknown Pleasures and Closer - both produced by the maverick Martin Hannett - through one of the greatest-ever independent record labels, Tony Wilson's Factory.
The untimely death of Curtis failed to prevent the other members from going on to further musical success with New Order, and left Joy Division with a short, but influential time of existence, with the years showing no sign of diminishing their impact.
