The ShortListen: Turin Brakes (no. 293)

An anthem for the soul

The ShortListen: Turin Brakes (no. 293)
15 April 2016

Who? Turin Brakes

What’s the story? Turin Brakes, built around the duo of Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian and long-term collaborators Rob Allum and Eddie Myer, have created consistently great, emotive music ever since their Mercury Prize-nominated debut record The Optimist, released back in 2001. They've just released their seventh album, the critically-acclaimed Lost Property which adds to their canon with aplomb, putting them alongside those bands who build and build and cultivate that loyal fanbase. However, one extremely useful trick that Turin Brakes have had over the years is to pop up with an undeniable banger every so often. The amazing Underdog (Save Me) kickstarted their career, Pain Killer (Summer Rain) gave them a top 5 hit and now this track, Save You - an enormous, emotional string-laden ballad should push them out to wider consciousness once again. We're delighted to be premiering the video - check it out above and wallow in its beauty.
