"Uplifting Electro Gloriousness"

The ShortListen: St. Lucia (no. 187)
28 October 2015

Who? St. Lucia

What’s the story: It's scientific fact that Elevate, the 2013 track by St. Lucia - aka Johannesburg-born, Brooklyn-based electronic artist Jean-Philip Grobler - is one of the most uplifting pieces of music to ever be created, with its parent debut album When The Night providing plenty of other fantastic moments. Now he's back with the utterly glorious Dancing on Glass, which sees a return of his distinctive hooky synth riffs, big production values and a giant chorus. It's not a million miles away from The 1975's comeback track Love Me, fully embracing the golden era of synthpop, the 1980s, with nods to Peter Gabriel and all the rest - all you need to know is that you need to get it on the stereo, turn it up and your life will improve.

For fans of: Chvrches, The Wombats, The 1975

In three words: Uplifting Electro Gloriousness
