Restrained EDM from Norwegian duo

The ShortListen: Seeb (no. 274)
16 March 2016

Who? Seeb

What’s the story? Norwegian duo Espen Berg and Simen Eriksrud have been quietly involved in the Norwegian music scene for a while, chief among their works being the production of one of the finest pop albums of the last decade: Donkeyboy's Caught in a Life, which sadly never quite got the worldwide exposure it deserved. However, they've finally received their moment in the sun for one of the biggest remixes in a long time, as they took Mike Posner's acoustic track I Took a Pill in Ibiza and overhauled it with a tropical EDM feel; the track subsequently exploded and currently sits at no.2 on the UK singles chart. Now, they look to make their next move to take advantage of this sudden popularity by pushing their own material, in the form of Breathe. Although the song's intro leaves you fearing another EDM-meets-country music Avicii disaster, it soon settles down to reveal itself as another excellent slice of downbeat, reflective late-night house. Hopefully they will finally get the spotlight they deserve.
