The ShortListen: Pet Shop Boys (no. 253)

Lead single from new album revealed

The ShortListen: Pet Shop Boys (no. 253)
16 February 2016

Who? Pet Shop Boys

What’s the story? We were already pretty excited about Super, the upcoming thirteenth studio record from Pet Shop Boys after the dark, brooding taster track Inner Sanctum, but now this new song should get fans everywhere eagerly awaiting 1 April. Quite simply, it's hard to imagine a more 'Pet Shop Boys' track than this: four to the floor, nineties house piano, electro strings, intellectual pop-culture referencing lyrics, deadpan delivery, a spoken middle eight and a general juxtaposition of melancholy and euphoria. If you love the Pet Shop Boys, you'll love this. If you don't love the Pet Shop Boys, well, you should probably reassess your life choices.

For fans of: Pet Shop Boys, actually

In three words: Classic dancefloor melancholy
