Who? Pet Shop Boys

What’s the story? The Pet Shop Boys haven't let up in quantity and quality of releases ever since 1984's incredible debut album Please, but 2012's downbeat Elysium record had some fans worried that perhaps they were ready for the pipe and slippers after three decades of synthpopping around the globe. However, Electric, released the following year, put those doubts to bed as they teamed up with superproducer Stuart Price for a banging club record - arguably one of their best-ever albums. They've now announced their new album, Super, due on 1 April, and it looks like they're continuing in the same vein, with taster track Inner Sanctum pulling the same trick as Axis, which previewed Electric - it's an impeccably-produced, largely instrumental, Underworld-style dark, brooding club track. Naturally, they've announced a four night residency at the Royal Opera House in July which has already sold out - there are few acts around who would dare to play a venue like that and get away with it; it's a joy to have them back.

For fans of: Underworld, Leftfield, Faithless

In three words: Dark brooding blast
