The ShortListen: Lonely The Brave (no. 245)

Dense, dark comeback from Cambridge rockers

The ShortListen: Lonely The Brave (no. 245)
04 February 2016

Who? Lonely The Brave

What’s the story? We've been fans of Cambridge quintent Lonely The Brave for a while: their first album The Day's War and a bucketload of touring saw them steadily grow a substantial fanbase. Now they're back with the first track from their second (as-yet-untitled) album, produced by Ross Orton (Drenge, Arctic Monkeys) and it's a serious statement of intent. Singer David Jakes takes centre stage in the video, and his vocals guide this track - muffled and restrained in the verses, before unleashing a primal scream in the choruses as guitars blast all around him throughout. It's dense, heavy and reminiscent of Deftones and Brand New at their best. A big, hulking beast of a track: welcome back guys.

For fans of: Brand New, Deftones, Twin Atlantic

In three words: Dark, dense comeback
