The best new music around

The ShortListen: Kiiara (no. 183)
22 October 2015

Who? Kiiara

What’s the story: Barely out of her teens, could this Illinois artist be destined for big things? On the evidence of Intention, taken from upcoming debut EP Meet Me In The Cornfield, we’re going with a big fat ‘yes’. Delicately layered with ethereal resonance and sumptuous beats by LA producers Casper & B, Kiiara’s rhythm, you can’t help but get lost in her rat-a-tat lyrics as the vibe alternates between full on slow jam to the sort of haunting indie pop which has helped propel Lana Del Ray to the top of the charts. If her intention is to something similar, it's a positive start.

For fans of: Lana Del Ray, Drake, Ciara

In three words: Haunting Slow jam
