Who? Jake Bugg

What’s the story? After two albums of his phenomenally-successful retro indie-folk, it seems that Jake Bugg has decided that all this time, what he really wanted was to be in the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His new track Gimme The Love, is almost perfectly composed of two old songs: the verse is the Chili's Can't Stop, while the chorus and the general feel is borrowed heavily from Beggin' You by The Stone Roses - while we're fairly certain he gave The Music's first album a good listen before making this. Reaction to the track has been 'mixed', to put it mildly, but the general energy - and the fact he's trying something new rather than retreading old ground - is refreshing. The use of a breakbeat and a clear electronic influence (even if there are no actual synths on there as far as we can tell) makes a nice change from an obsession with 'real music'. He seriously missed a trick not getting John Squire in on guitar for that solo though...
