Fans of melodic synthpop, step this way

Who? EKKOES

What’s the story? The KIDS Records label quietly released a host of early singles in the late noughties by the likes of The Wombats, Band of Horses, Orbital's Paul Hartnoll, The Whip and many more, and they return to the fold after a few years with the launch single from London trio EKKOES. You Just Walked Away is a melodic blast of tough electropop, as a dark verse gives way to an arena-sized chorus built for the brokenhearted. There's shades of the uplifting pop-meets-dark lyrics of both Hurts and Chvrches, while there's an undeniable trace of classic eighties in there - and appropriately enough they tour with the Human League later this year. You Just Walked Away? Perhaps they just Don't Want You Baby. Check it out now.

For fans of: Chvrches, Human League, Years & Years

In three words: Bitter Sweet Pop
