Stormzy follows through on Twitter promise, proving why he’s the world's loveliest bloke

Throughout 2017, Stormzy has been showing us how down-to-earth and decent he is as a person.

The grime artist, whose debut album Gang Signs & Prayer was one of the best-received releases of the year, has been busy just being a generally great guy.

There’s that time he wrote a birthday message to a bullied schoolboy, for example, or when he donated £9,000 to help a student take up a place at Harvard.

He has also helped raise awareness of depression by opening up about his own struggles and vulnerabilities, as well as performing an intensely powerful verse on a charity single in aid of the Grenfell Tower fire victims.

But his latest gesture is the cherry on top of the cake.

Good Guy Stormzy

Nas Bockarie, a PE teacher who goes by GodsSonNB7 on Twitter, sent Stormzy a message following the death of his father.

Nas’ dad was a big fan of ‘Blinded By Your Grace Pt. 2’, the fourth single from Gang Signs & Prayer, so he asked if Stormzy would be able to perform the song at the funeral.

By his own admission, the request was made more in hope than in expectation, but when you’re dealing with one of the nicest and most generous guys in music the level of hope might go up ever so slightly.

You can probably figure out what happened next.

The 24-year-old musician spoke to Nas over direct message and came along to pay his respects, before getting on stage to give a performance of one of the most powerful songs on the album.

It was a genuinely remarkable gesture, from a man who has shown time and time again that he’s willing to go above and beyond to help those in need.
