It was one of the biggest nights of Stormzy’s career last night as he picked up two BRIT Awards - for best British male and British album of the year. But instead of simply enjoying his hard-earned success, the south London rapper stunned the audience and viewers at home with a powerful political stage performance.
The 24-year-old used his time to launch a scathing attack on Theresa May and her government for its poor handling of the aftermath of the Grenfell tragedy that left 71 people dead last year.
He rapped during his performance: “Yo, Theresa May, where’s that money for Grenfell? You just forgot about Grenfell.
“You’re criminals, and you’ve got the cheek to call us savages, you should do some jail-time, you should pay some damages, we should burn your house down and see if you can manage this.”
And he also turned his fury on the right-wing press, saying: “Will someone tell the Daily Mail they can suck my…?”

Although somewhat awkwardly, the Daily Mail still tweeted out a message of congratulations for the rapper’s success. Maybe they just didn’t hear the whole ‘screw you Daily Mail’ part of the performance? Oops.
