People are petitioning God to bring Bowie back from the dead

Ashes to ashes? Not according to some.

Since news of David Bowie’s passing sent the world into collected mourning, one fairly ambitious Change.org petition calling on God to bring the rock star back to life has amassed 4,500 signatures and rising.

Simply titled 'Say no to David Bowie dead', Italian Andrea Natella's plea has somehow managed to combine warm humour with acknowledgement of a cultural icon often bigger than life itself. After Bowie's 18-month battle with cancer ended on 10 January, we've seen a few alt tributes fly in, but this one has clearly struck a chord (if you pardon the pun) with fans.

Should you be in agreement, feel free to sign up right here. Should it get so big that NASA takes notice, who knows, maybe the space agency will send out radio signals looking for word on Major Tom.

Which, let's face it, is probably more likely than Steven Avery's petition taking effect anytime soon.

Interestingly, the last Twitter account that David Bowie followed was God himself - and it sounds like he's having too good a time up there to come back.
