New Band Aid Single Is On The Way
07 November 2014

Much like the news that there's going to be a Toy Story 4, we're not entirely sure that anyone requested this.

Reports are surfacing that a brand new 30th anniversary version of Band Aid's festive classic Do They Know It's Christmas? will be released later this month. The original came out way back in 1984, as part of Bob Geldof's desire to help the people suffering in the Ethiopian famine of the time - it then spawned the Live Aid concerts of 1985.

While the song's accuracy has been questioned, no one can deny that it is a massive tune. It's been remade twice, to substantially lesser effect. First in 1989 when Stock, Aitken & Waterman produced and a gloriously pop lineup contributed, including Kylie, Sonia, Bros and Bananarama, and then again in 2004, when 'Band Aid 20' saw Joss Stone, Dizzee Rascal, Justin Hawkins from the Darkness and the Bedingfield siblings all contributing parts.

Acts tipped to get involved this time are One Direction, Florence Welsh, Adele, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran and, for some reason, Alt-J, with the proceeds due to go towards fighting the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. So expect to see an introverted indie version with Florence foghorning throughout and Bono doing 'that line' yet again, topping the charts this December 25th.

Check out the three versions so far, and remember, as always, to thank God it's them, instead of you.
