Liam and Noel is the soap opera that will never end. So much so that Coronation Street is more likely to end before the Liam and Noel saga does.

But one thing we’ve never stopped to consider is exactly what started it in the first place? It’s a bit like the universe, we’re used to it being a constant in our everyday lives, but how did it all begin? What was the Gallagher Big Bang?

Well, we’ve finally found out - and we’ve got Graham Norton to thank for it.

No, don’t misunderstand, they didn’t have a row about Graham Norton back in their Burnage house all those years ago - he’s the one who asked Liam the big question on his show, which airs on Friday (6 October).

Liam Gallagher finally reveals what started his feud with Noel - and it's brilliantly petty

mfw my brother does a wee on my sound system

Liam said:

“[The fights] are for real. We don’t like each other.

“Lots of people have asked us to get back together and they keep adding noughts. They’ve offered us millions and millions but it’s not about the money.”

“The grudge started when he was about 19 and he bought a stereo. I’d had my first drink that night and got up to pee.

“I couldn’t find the light so I relieved myself over his new sound system. He was livid and that’s where it started.”

To be fair to Noel, we’d probably be just as angry.

Liam appears on the show alongside Kate Winslet, Idris Elba and Chris Rock, with Liam seemingly in a conciliatory mood, as evidenced by these tweets:

The latter comment refers to a long-running feud Liam had with Elba - dating back to a 2013 NME Awards show where Idris ‘messed up’ Liam’s hair - which now appears to been settled.

On the show, they say:

Idris: “Me and Liam have squared it away. We had a falling out. He threw my hat across the bar.”

Liam: “We only fell out for 10 minutes.”

Idris: “He threw my hat across the bar.”

But Liam interjected: “You started it mate by feeling my hair.”

Idris explained further: “I gave him a hug and he didn’t like that ‘cos he loves his hair. He took my hat off and threw it across the bar so we had a bit of a thing. We’re all good now.”

Liam: “Yep we are all good now.”

Now, can you imagine the Noel barney being sorted that easily?

No, us neither. As you were.
