Radiohead are 1000% better when they're covering Daddy Yankee's 'Gasolina'

It's as real as you want it to be

Radiohead are 1000% better when they're covering Daddy Yankee's 'Gasolina'
26 April 2017

The internet would like to introduce you to an alternate reality in which Radiohead – angsty, suffocating, emotionally-charged Radiohead – just casually launch into a cover of reggaeton classic ‘Gasolina’ at one of their live shows. A better reality.

A video that appears to show Thom Yorke getting very animated as he sings along to Daddy Yankee’s 2004 hit is spreading like wildfire on the internet. It’s fake of course, but isn’t everything good these days? The audio is mixed so flawlessly with the clip that it really looks like the frontman has reserved his best hip action for the noughties Latin banger.

Watch:

The footage was actually taken from a Radiohead live show in Berkeley, California, earlier this month, and Yorke was losing his shit to the rhythm of ‘Myxomatosis’ at the time.

This appears to be the launchpad for an all-new online trend, as another Gasolina spoof has since popped up, this time featuring Céline Dion. I’ll level with you: it doesn’t work as well as the Radiohead version, but if the biggest problem you have today is listening to one too many hoax Daddy Yankee cover versions then you’re doing pretty well.
