Foals announce new album
11 June 2015

For our money, Holy Fire was the best album of 2013, from the blaring crunch of Inhaler, through to the delicate melancholy of Stepson.

And now Oxford five piece Foals have announced details of their hotly-anticipated fourth album. It'll be released on 28 August; the first single - and title track of the record - What Went Down will be premiered on Annie Mac's Radio One show on Tuesday 16 June.

James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Florence & The Machine, Jessie Ware, Mumford & Sons) has produced the record, which was recorded in a 19th century mill in the south of France, with the result being "a primal, intense, sometimes harrowing album of extremes...the record touches upon the depths of madness whilst also exhibiting some of the most beautiful pop songs the band have ever written."

Never one to shy away from the ambitious, frontman Yannis Philippakis states that; lyrically, “I wanted to tap into my inner madman and feel like I was channeling some sort of fevered creature”.

The cover is below, alongside a teaser trailer for the album (this is now becoming a definite 'thing'), as well as the full tracklisting. And Inhaler and My Number, just to get us all excited.
