Craig David's Ultimate Playlist

Garage god reveals his favourite tunes

Craig David's Ultimate Playlist
14 July 2016

Craig David's career renaissance shows no sign of stopping.

After a period out of the musical limelight following his early noughties heyday, an infamous 1Xtra Session when he joined Big Narstie and Stormzy in the studio, purely by chance, became a viral smash. Soon he was guesting with Major Lazer and releasing a bona fide comeback track with the help of the aforementioned Big Narstie, When The Bassline Drops, which was swiftly followed up by Nothing Like This.

Now he's going for a third comeback hit with One More Time - sadly not a cover of the Daft Punk track, although we bet he'd do a mean freestyle over that if he had to.

We caught up with Craig to discover his Ultimate Playlist - read on for some classic tracks.

Favourite sad song

"Someone Like You by Adele. A beautifully written song which touched the nation."

Favourite lyric from a song

"‘I’m Walking Away from the troubles in my life’ – A lyric from my song Walking Away and one which means a lot!"

Favourite song from your childhood

"One More Chance by Notorious B.I.G. When this dropped in the clubs it went OFF!! I must have had it on repeat for a whole year and still listen to it regularly. Biggie's flow and Faith Evans vocal went together so well!"

"Skyfall by Adele. One of my favourite films and the track fits perfectly."

Favourite current song

"One More Time by yours truly. I had to go for my new single. If you love garage, you’ll love this tune."

Favourite wedding song

"ABC by The Jackson 5. A classic wedding song that is universally loved."

Favourite song from your own music

"Fill Me In. It’s obviously a song that did a lot for me and my career and it’s definitely one I’m proud of from a lyrical perspective."
