A Brief History of Sampling

The technique of sampling records irrevocably changed the course of music-making, enabling the invention of hip-hop, before working its way into pretty much every genre out there.

Starting with the Beatles' use of the Mellotron in the 1960s, this brilliant video charts the course of sampling up to the present day, picking out some of the most famous breaks and riffs from each decade and matching them up to the songs they were used in.
