Is another piece of the puzzle falling into place?

Could this ‘Deadpool’ star appear in Joaquin Phoenix’s secret Joker movie?

What do we know about the new Joker origin movie? Not a lot, really.

We know Joaquin Phoenix is involved, we know it will be called Joker, and we know Todd Phillips will direct, with Martin Scorsese attached as an executive producer.

We also know it will be released on October 4, 2019, with shooting due to begin soon. That’s about it, though.

Everything else we’ve heard has been largely speculative so far (although we have done a lot of educated speculating here), but there’s another name linked to the project and it’s someone who fans of comic book films will be familiar with.

Zazie Beetz played Domino in Deadpool 2, and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed she is in talks to join the Joker project.

The German-born actress has seen her stock rise of late, thanks in no small part to her role as Van Keefer in Atlanta.

Her performances in the Donald Glover comedy drama have earned her a Primetime Emmy award nomination, while her other upcoming projects include High Flying Bird, written by Moonlight’s Tarell Alvin McCraney.

Joker is said to be inspired by the work of Martin Scorsese, which many have taken to mean it will be even darker than previous films involving the iconic character.

It is the first film from The Hangover director Phillips since 2016’s War Dogs, and he is co-writing the screenplay with Oscar winner Scott Silver.

In the meantime, the other currently active joker actor – Jared Leto – will be adding a Marvel Cinematic Universe credit to his DC role. It’s a busy time.
