Film

It would probably be High School Musical 2. I’ve got a daughter who’s eight so I go see a lot of these kids films and often it’s a bit of an opportunity to have a bit of a sleep and some popcorn, you know. I found myself at High School Musical 2 at the end when they have the big finale, with a lump in my throat, feeling really moved by it. I honestly can’t remember the scene but you know it was 'girl and boy' and 'can we get a show together' and 'we’ll put the show on'. It’s as simple as that. It’s just the musical numbers that get me. It’s all those chaste kisses and the innocence of it. They’re actually good actors those American kids.

TV Show

X Factor. A lot of it is production, particularly as I work in TV, and I admire it that even though it’s live, it goes off without a hitch. I also like to watch it and observe the way I’m being manipulated. You know, the way they use the back story. So it’s all 'his mum’s lost her leg' stuff. I think they’re masters of that and I’ve been sat watching it and hoping that their mum’s OK, but at the same time I’m aware of the process. It’s the best one. It’s the Rolls Royce of talent shows. As for the contestants this year, I mean I’m torn because I want it to be interesting but the obvious winner is probably James. But I sort of don’t want it to be obvious I want it to be dramatic, so I’m a little bit torn. I was outraged every time Rylan got voted back in but at the same time I’m pleased as it makes it so much more interesting. It’s what it’s all about.

Song

I’ve always been a big fan of Ernie by Benny Hill. I think it’s because a lot of comedians have novelty songs, but what’s great about that one is that it’s got a lot of good jokes, based on a really good story and a really good video at the time. Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West) and his love rival, a baker fight with yoghurts and rock cakes. But he [Ernie] gets killed by a rock cake . It was the first single I ever had.

Food

I really like cream. Double cream, clotted cream, any sort of cream really. I wouldn’t just drink it straight out of the tin, no. What I like to do is buy a low fat yoghurt – a fudge flavoured yoghurt - and top it up with double cream.

Magazine

Tatler’s quite good fun isn’t it? What I like about it are all those pictures of the toffs at parties. They're always at some masked ball, or some other elaborate party. They all have great bone structure. I don’t buy it but it’s one of those ‘in a dentist’s waiting room’ type of things.

Website

My wife’s Facebook page. Yeah, I’ll just go on when she doesn’t know. She’ll just leave it logged on. I’ll take a look at her photos of lolly wrappers because she likes to collect things. So, I’ll just go on to find out what silly things she’s posted up.
