Great white sharks are massive fans of metal music

Blood, panic and fear aren't the only things that attract one of the ocean's most terrifying predators.

Apparently a good dose of the ever docile heavy metal does.

The deep basslines of the likes of Metallica's Robert Trujillo and Darkest Hours' Aaron Deal were found to attract sharks because the dense tones simulate the low frequencies of struggling fish. 

We'd suggest leaving the waterproof speaker at home when you're going for a deep blue dip to avoid the soundtrack to a most gruesome of deaths.
