Here's everything we know about 'IT: Chapter 2'

More clowns! More scares!

Here's everything we know about 'IT: Chapter 2'
17 May 2018

IT, the scary clown movie - big toothy face-painted bozo whacking kids’ arms off and laughing about it, what a jerkazoid. Still, regardless of the film’s rude antagonist, it made a right old killing at the box office, and then upped and left, leaving a big old sequel-shaped hole stuck in our cinemas.

From day one, we knew there was going to be a part 2 - the book is far too long to adapt into one single film - but what exactly is going to happen in it? Will Mr. Bad Clown and his eczema forehead be back in town?

Read on to find out - here’s everything we know so far:

It’ll focus on the Losers’ Club as adults

Much like in the book, we’ll be having a gander at what the kids get up to in adulthood, when that big scary fairground tosser sticks his oar in once more. As such, we’re looking at it being set in the present day, or at least a recent timezone, complete with flashbacks to the ‘80s, because you gotta have that nostalgia, baby!

Things are getting wacky

The book is really, really weird - like, it’s not just a spooky clown - we’ve got a werewolf, a shark, a spider and even a giant talking turtle god. Director Andy Muschietti wasn’t keen on jamming all that into the first movie, but there’s scope for some off-kilter appearances in the sequel. he told SyFy Wire:

“I think in the second part, the turtle will try to help them.

“In the second movie, the turtle left a few clues to their childhood that they don’t remember. They have to retrieve those memories from the summer of 1989, and that’s how we jump back to 1989.”

The cast is looking spot-on

James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader have all been anounced already, but the latest news is the addition of Andy Bean (Transformers: The Last Knight) and James Ransone (Sinister). Bill Skarsgård will be painting a load of slap over his mush again to return as Pennywise, too. Can’t really have the film without him, can ya?

It’s going to be even SCARIER

Thought the first one put the willies up ya? Well, according to Muschietti, this one is going to blow that out the water (not like a director to hype up his own sequel like that, is it?). He’s even instructed future audiences to “bring your adult diapers”. Needless to say, it’s going to be another R-rated adventure, thank Pete.

There’s gonna be some changes made, boyo

The first adaptation steered away slightly from the book, while still following the same overall story, and the same is set to happen in the sequel. For example, Muschietti has revealed his plans for Mike (who in the book is a bit of wimpy librarian):

“My idea of Mike in the second movie is quite darker from the book. I want to make his character the one pivotal character who brings them all together, but staying in Derry took a toll with him.

“I want him to be a junkie actually. A librarian junkie. When the second movie starts, he’s a wreck.”

It’s coming out in September 2019

That is a heading which works on two levels.

That’s all we know so far, but we’ll update this page as we know more. CHECK BACK EVERY SINGLE DAY NOW UNTIL THE END OF TIME or until it comes out, anyway.
