The Videodrome remake is coming
22 August 2012

Another day, another remake on the way. After yesterday brought news of a Rocketeer reboot, today we have word of a rather different re-imagining.

Universal have announced that Videodrome, David Cronenberg's 1983 body horror classic is getting a do-over and has nabbed a director in the form of Adam Berg. Berg is best known for his work on commercials and short films but will be making his big screen debut with the remake.

A script has already been written by Ehren Kruger, scribe of The Ring, Scream 3 and the Transformers sequels.

The original film starred James Woods as the head of a TV network who broadcasts a surreal show about torture and murder with increasingly nightmarish results. According to Deadline, the update will give a modern spin to the idea by "infusing it with the possibilities of nano-technology and blow it up into a large-scale sci-fi action thriller."

Might have to change that title as well. Not sure if Blu-raydrome sounds quite as good...

What do you think? Is it worth remaking?
