Beware DUPLO!

The first trailer for 'The Lego Movie 2' is finally here
06 June 2018

Toy movies haven’t exactly had the best time of it (regardless of how I will defend the G.I Joe movies to the death), so when The LEGO Movie came out and was actually, well, really good, it was a surprise to everybody. What wasn’t a surprise, however, is that there would be a sequel - of course this feature-length advert would have one, think of the mounds and mounds of cashish to be made. Just think.

So they did, and now there’s a trailer for it. Would you like t- YES YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT:

The official synopsis (*Run DMC voice*) goes a little something like this:

“The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part, reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.

“The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.”

Exciting stuff, no? We’ve got Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman and Will Arnett (thank God) all returning, but the directing reigns have swapped from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to the esteemed Mike Mitchell, who directed the undying classic Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo (again, fight me), although Lord and Miller remain on writing duties.

Think all that there’s left to say is this: this is going to be very very good isn’t it.*

*Note the lack of question mark after “isn’t it” there - that’s because it’s a statement, I’m not asking you, I’m telling you - sure, it’s a grammatically incorrect statement, but it’s a statement all the same.
