The Inception Bass Note In Every Action Movie Trailer

BRAAAAAGGGHHHHMMM.

Fear not, we’ve not fallen onto the keyboard in a fit of panic. We’re trying to remind you of the famous bass note from Inception, which - in case our tact didn't work - you can play yourself by hitting a big red button right here.

You’d be in good company, too. Ever since Christopher Nolan introduced our auricles to this sound, studio marketing execs haven't been able to get enough of it, hitting the button again, again and again - all in the hope the brief blare of sci-fi tinged dread coaxes moviegoers to parting with even more money for ridiculous 3D glasses.

Suspicious of just this, YouTube user Chris Cohen ('fess up Nolan, your pseudonym can't fool us) has taken a raft of trailers for forthcoming features to highlight exactly how reliant modern action movie trailers have become on this pattern. It's actually fairly sobering and a damning look into how formulaic the film business is.

Will it stop us watching these films? Not on your life.
