Watch the first trailer for Spike Lee's 'BlacKkKlansman'

Oh what a surprise, it looks really good

Spike Lee is back again, not that he’s been away or anything - he’s made at least one film every year since 2012. And he is aiming to continue that incredible work-rate with his second film of 2018 (already!), the undercover cop comedy BlacKkKlansman, starring John David Washington (Ballers) and Adam Driver (Space Laser Attack: Revenge Of The Fire Sword).

Here’s the first trailer for yas:

The movie is based on the true story of Ron Stallworth, a black police officer who went undercover to gain access to the KKK from within in the 1970s. Adam Driver plays Flip Zimmerman, his partner who pretends to be Stallworth when meeting the Klansmen, including KKK leader David Duke, played by the underrated Topher Grace. The story was detailed in Stallworth’s 2014 novel Black Klansman.

As well as directing, Lee has written the screenplay, as well as producing alongside man of the moment, Jordan Peele and famed horror produced Jason Blum.

The film has already premiered at Cannes, where it received a standing ovation (DO ALL FILMS AT CANNES RECEIVE STANDING OVATIONS YOU MUST ASK YOURSELF THIS) and has been almost unanimously praised. From the strength of the trailer, it’s not hard to see why.

The movie hits UK cinemas August 24.
