Ryan Gosling confirms he'll be starring in Blade Runner 2
17 November 2015

When rumours of a sequel to Ridley Scott’s neo-noir classic Blade Runner first surfaced, you didn’t need a Voight-Kampff machine to tell fans of the original film were not too pleased.

For some, it was tantamount for treason, a cinematic gem those Hollywood money men should leave well alone – after all, everyone remembers how Scott’s Prometheus turned out.

But then the mood changed some…

Arthouse director Denis Villeneuve signed on, swiftly followed by his Sicario cinematographer Roger Deakins, prompting many to think it might not actually be half bad. Then it was announced Harrison Ford would be reprising his role as Rick Deckard, still regarded as one of the most iconic film characters of all time, and everyone felt slightly more positive.

And now we have confirmation from Ryan Gosling - AKA the only man to ever make a Scorpion jacket look cool - that the hunk of the month will be starring in the sci-fi sequel, after the star told an interviewer for Collider that he’s gearing up for the role and “excited” by it. And he's not the only one - if the film's looking for another steely-eyed, brooding, near mute detective, he's the man for the part.

That’s about all he said though, dryly adding: “There’s a chip in me and if I say anything more I’ll explode.”

Wait, did he just say he’s a replicant? Yep, he’s a replicant.
