Rosie O'Donnell hates Melancholia

Denmark and Woody Allen too

Rosie O'Donnell hates Melancholia

Lars Von Trier is quite the divisive director. Anyone who's seen Antichrist will attest to that but his latest offering has received a mainly rapturous reaction.

Melancholia, his arthouse take on the apocalypse, just took home the award for Best Picture at the National Board of Review yet one person wasn't too pleased about this.

Comedienne and one-time movie star Rosie O'Donnell decided to launch an assault on the film and anything else she could think of when she took to the stage at the ceremony.

"If I had the choice between giving birth to a flaming child on the floor of an igloo, or watching that film again, I would choose the birth of my child" she said to an audience of critics who obviously rather liked the film. She didn't end there.

"I’m happy to hear that Lars von Trier is not here today. He’s from Denmark. F**k it, I don’t know where that country is, I’ll never look for him, or Woody Allen. Pedophile? Who’s to say?"

The bizarre rant fell on deaf ears and probably irked the NBR who chose her to host the Freedom of Expression Award to the documentary Crime After Crime. Quick note, O'Donnell's last screen credit was The Flintstones In Viva Rock Vegas in 2000, where she voiced an octopus masseuse.
