Quentin Tarantino Casts His Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino Casts His Hateful Eight

Quentin Tarantino Casts His Hateful Eight
07 November 2014

Quentin Tarantino likes an eclectic cast and he's assembled a doozy for his next film, the western The Hateful Eight.

Officially announced are Samuel L Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, Kurt Russell as John 'The Hangman' Ruth. Jennifer Jason Leigh Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, Demian Bechir as Bob, Tim Roth as Oswaldo Mobray, Michael Madsen as Joe Gage and Bruce Dern as General Sanford Smithers. Channing Tatum is also onboard in a smaller, as yet unconfirmed role.

The film takes place in Wyoming, several years after the US Civil War. Ruth, a bounty hunter, is on his way to Red Rock with his quarry, Domergue. On the way they happen across another bounty hunter, former union soldier Warren, and Mannix, a man claiming to be the town's sheriff. When they hole up at a stagecoach stopover, they encounter Bob, Mobray, Gage and Smithers, and it becomes apparent that none of them might reach their destination.

For a while the film looked like it wasn't going to happen, after Tarantino chucked an almighty strop when his script was leaked online. He's made his peace and the film will begin shooting early next year, with a new draft of the screenplay.

The Weinstein Company will release The Hateful Eight at some point in 2015.
