Mrs Doubtfire 2 In The Works

It's been 21 years coming, but it looks like there'll finally be a follow-up to the smash hit comedy Mrs Doubtfire.

And despite the time that's elapsed since the first movie, which came out in 1993, Robin Williams is again slated to star in it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 are putting together pre-production for the film, with Chris Columbus again down to direct and David Berenbaum - who wrote the Christmas classic Elf - writing the script.

The original cost just $25m (£15m) to make but grossed $441m (£262m) worldwide, and previous attempts to write a sequel have stalled due to Columbus and Williams not finding a script that they approve of. It seems that this has now changed with Berenbaum's involvement.

No more details are forthcoming quite yet but we await developments with interest. To whet your appetite for the next installment, let's all enjoy the trailer for the original, which featured Robin Williams dressing up as a Scottish nanny to gain access to his children, below.
