More than 20 years on, John Goodman still hears one of his famous lines a lot
John Goodman has played a number of memorable roles in his career, but one stands out above all the rest.
He has won and been nominated for awards for his performances in Argo and Monsters Inc., among others, as well as his small-screen work on shows including Roseanne.
However, when you hear Goodman’s name or see his face, chances are the first thing which comes to mind is his portrayal of Walter Sobchak in The Big Lebowski.
Goodman’s character gets almost all of the best lines in the Coen brothers’ cult classic, and delivers them impeccably.
As a result, there are plenty of contenders when it comes to which line gets quoted back at him the most, but he has revealed the answer in an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, as reported by The A.V. Club.
“[It’s] ‘Shut the fuck up, Donny’,” Goodman revealed, before adding “It’s not as bad as when [Steve] Buscemi gets it on the street”.
Goodman is currently starring on The Conners, a Roseanne spin-off which has proved popular with critics, while his recent film roles involved Kong: Skull Island and 10 Cloverfield Lane.
He is not among the cast members confirmed for Going Places, the Big Lebowski spin-off focusing on John Turturro’s character Jesus Quintana.
