Joel Schumacher To Write Batman & Robin Comic

Joel Schumacher To Write Batman & Robin Comic
27 October 2014

It's safe to say that Joel Schumacher's 1997 film Batman & Robin was not the most successful movie ever made. In fact, it's a very safe thing to say.

But it seems that it's getting a new lease of life, with the news that DC Comics is enlisting Schumacher to write a twelve issue, year-long Batman comic, which will tell the whole story of his planned trilogy of films. Despite his first effort, Batman Forever, performing well at the box office, the negative reception for Batman & Robin was such that the third movie, Batman Triumphant, was cancelled. The franchise was, of course, eventually rebooted under Christopher Nolan's command, to huge success.

Now he's been commissioned to write the new series, which will be drawn by Dustin Nguyen, which promises to be "rewritten from scratch and telling one story...his original vision for the movies." To his credit, Schumacher has previously acknowledged that he "didn't do a good job" - now he's got the chance to right song wrongs, just like the caped crusader himself.
