When Wes Anderson announced in 2016 that he would be making a stop-motion animation entitled Isle of Dogs, its 2018 release date seemed an age away.

However, while we’re reluctant to claim time flies after that seemingly never-ending 2017, we’re almost ready for the film’s arrival in cinemas around the world.

It’s actually arriving sooner than first thought, getting a 23 March US release date before it’s rolled out elsewhere over the following weeks.

And now, after last year’s trailer, we’ve had a chance to see a little more of what’s in store.

We were already aware of the all-star cast, while we’d seen glimpses of action in the trailer, but now Vulture has got its hands on an exclusive 90-second clip.

It features the unmistakeable voice of Edward Norton, who plays lead canine character Rex in the animation, and a face-off between two rival packs of dogs.

Somehow even this short clip has plenty of the characteristics you’d expect from the director, despite involving no humans and a much less colourful landscape than much of Anderson’s earlier work.

Isle of Dogs will premiere in Berlin on 15 February before getting its first UK airing at the Glasgow Film Festival the following week.

According to IMDb, its full UK release will come on 30 March, a full week after the US gets its hands on Anderson’s first feature film since 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The all-star voice cast includes Norton, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig and many more.
