Hot Wheels Movie Gets Fast Tracked

Hot Wheels Movie Gets Fast Tracked

Hot Wheels Movie Gets Fast Tracked
17 October 2013

We all fondly remember the story of Hot Wheels don't we: There were some cars and they did drive about.

Such a good story, full of so much peril and characterisation and unforeseeable twists. It's a surprise that it's taken so long for Hollywood to turn it into a movie with that kind of material. Actually, it's a recognised brand that gives carte blanche for making a kid-friendly racing movie. It will likely be no surprise that Legendary, the company behind the Fast and Furious movies, is developing the movie, which will presumably be very much like F&F but with more colourful cars and a more family-friendly tone, although there is suggestion that the film will not be aimed at kids.

The movie, which has been discussed since 2011, is now moving into production and will be directed by first-timer Simon Crane, who previously worked as a stunt co-ordinator on everything from GoldenEye to X-Men 3 to World War Z. So the guy should be able to pull together a solid action sequence.

Hopefully this news will help soften the blow that the Stretch Armstrong movie is no longer a reality.
