Surely Harry's more Keith isn't he?

Harry Styles strongly hints he'll play Mick Jagger in a new Rolling Stones movie
21 April 2017

He’s not even due to appear in his first film until July, but Harry Styles is already being discussed for another role: that of Mick Jagger in a future biopic of the Rolling Stones.

Styles, who is currently absolutely everywhere at once, promoting his new single ‘Sign of The Times’ (our verdict here), is believed to have smiled enigmatically when asked by Graham Norton whether he might be in the frame for the film, which hasn’t even been properly announced yet.

The dreamy former One Direction heartthrob had been asked play a game on BBC1’s Graham Norton show – which goes out tonight – in which he was asked to respond to various rumours about himself using only facial expressions. He dismissed the notions that he was working as an estate agent, eating dogs or using sheep’s placenta as moisturiser, but certainly didn’t rule out an appearance as Jagger, the Stones’ sprightly 73-year-old frontman.

According to industry rumour, the film is to be directed by Andy Goddard, whose other work includes Downton Abbey. It’s understood to be based on Robert Greenfield’s seminal band memoir Exile On Main Street: A Season In Hell With The Rolling Stones.

He’s certainly got the moves: last week, Styles was in America promoting his first solo single following the collapse of One Direction. He appeared on SNL, where in one sketch he made a passable impression of Jagger, which you can watch below if you don’t mind long, awkward pauses.

Styles’ first film, the Christopher Nolan-directed World War 2 epic Dunkirk, is set for release in July, in which he plays an as-yet unnamed member of the evacuated British Expeditionary Force.
