Gripping New Birdman trailer

No, Marvel aren't scraping the barrel just yet. As this latest trailer attests, Alejandro González Iñárritu's dark comedy is anything but capes and camp.

Birdman (or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance - we don't know why it needs two titles either) sees Michael Keaton play a washed up old superhero actor looking to reinvigorate his career with a new Broadway show. Lucid, tense and deeply trippy, tensions mount as the production nears its opening night and the aged actor loses his grip on reality.

With a ridiculously talented cast - including Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Amy Ryan and Zach Galifianakis - Iñárritu looks to have brewed the perfect antidote for those sick of the superhero craze. Check out the trailer for a warped peek at things to come.

Birdman arrives in cinemas 2 January 2015
