Ezra Miller's 'Flash' film has been delayed and it’s basically Harry Potter’s fault
We might be waiting a long time for the Ezra Miller film to be released
Sorry folks, you’re going to have to wait a long time for that Flash film you’ve been so desperate to see.
The Ezra Miller vehicle, part of the DC Extended Universe, was announced way back in 2014 with a provisional release date set at ‘some point in 2018’.
Well, you can probably guess that’s not going to happen, and it’s not for the reason you might expect.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are on directing duties for the film, having last worked together on the screenplay for Spider-Man: Homecoming, but they are not responsible for the wait.
Rather, anyone sitting on their hands waiting for The Flash (or whatever official title it ends up getting nearer the time) can direct their fury at the Harry Potter universe – or, more specifically, the third Fantastic Beastsfilm.
According to Variety, Miller’s filming responsibilities on Fantastic Beasts (he plays Credence Barebone in the films) may end up taking precedence over The Flash.
He’ll seemingly be on set for the former in late 2019, meaning he might not be able to begin work on the latter – where he will play the title character – until 2020 at the earliest.
In the meantime, Warner Bros have several DC-related films on the horizon, with the first, Aquaman, due out before the end of 2018.
A Wonder Woman sequel is on the way, as is a follow-up to Suicide Squad – with James Gunn on board, no less.
We can also expect a new Batman film, though we’ll have to wait until a new lead has been cast, with Ben Affleck unlikely to reprise his role.
Perhaps we’ll get a race between Batman and Flash to get to the finish line first – and we know who should be faster.
