First Trailer for Fassbender’s Macbeth

It's mean, moody and very, very intense. Well, what else did you expect from Macbeth?

The first teaser trailer for the hugely-anticipated Macbeth has finally landed and it looks excellent. Michael Fassbender stars as our eponymous 'hero', while Marion Cotillard takes up the role of his wicked wife, Lady Macbeth.

Both look perfectly suited to the parts, amongst an ensemble featuring Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), David Thewlis (Harry Potter) and Sean Harris (Prometheus).

Justin Kurzel is in the director's hotseat, and he already seems to have captured the grim, dark majesty of the play. This particular interpretation tells "the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire... a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war-torn Scotland".

Essentially, don't expect Toy Story.

It's already premiered at Cannes, where it competed for the Palme d'Or and it should hit UK screens on 2 October.
