Does This 2005 Interview With Mark Hamill Prove Luke Skywalker Has Gone To The Dark Side?
22 October 2015

Earlier this week we outlined our theory as to why Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker had been all but invisible amongst the onslaught of trailers and posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It's because he's turned to the Dark Side.

Read our theory on why Luke Skywalker has turned evil

It's a theory that's divided you, a poll suggesting that equal numbers of you think he's gone bad, or think we're totes nuts.

Then we found this round-table discussion from 2005, featuring Mark Hamill and J J Abrams and now we're certain we're on to something.

In this old episode of Dinner For Five - a US TV show that saw Jon Favreau join five fellow filmmakers to chat cinema - Hamill and Abrams are joined by Kevin Smith, Jason Lee and Stan Lee to share a few yarns about movies.

As the topic of Star Wars comes up, Hamill touches on the subject of a dark Luke Skywalker - a topic he pitched to George Lucas for Return of the Jedi.

As an actor that would be more fun to play. I just thought that’s the way it was going from when we finished [Empire].

I figured that’s what will be the pivotal moment. I’ll have to come back, but I will have Han Solo in my crosshairs and I’ll be about to kill him or about to kill the Princess or about to kill somebody that we care about.

It’s an old cornball movie, like World War II movies.

We'll just leave our poll down here for you to take again...
