Doctor who?

Threatening to upstage the dimension-hopping Time Lord himself, K9, the robot pooch seen in episodes of yesteryear, is returning to the fold with his very own spin-off film entitled K9-TimeQuake.

Obviously not to be confused with K-9, that other cinematic dog who starred opposite Jim Belushi in the cop comedy of the same name, we’re not even sure if this one will have any connection to the BBC's current Doctor Who series starring Peter Capaldi.

First appearing in 1977 serial The Invisible Enemy and more recently a modern Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, only time will tell just how contemporary the android hound will look, but going by the concept image, there could still be work to do.

Written by Doctor Who veteran Bob Baker, shooting will take place both in the UK and abroad, the plot is described as such:

“The new K9 will be appearing in a Multi-Million Dollar movie which promises to be a great action adventure set in deep Space. The film will be full of dashing heroes and heroines, Androids, monstrous Aliens and an ultimate foe who will also be familiar to Doctor Who fans everywhere; the megalomaniac OMEGA.”

OMEGA being an ostentatiously dressed and wayward Time Lord as opposed to a high-end wristwatch.

To be fair, how hard is it to defeat a metal mongrel? Time will indeed tell.
