Exclusive: DiCaprio responds to Clooney diss
15 January 2014

While he's seen as one of Hollywood's nicest guys, Oscar-winner George Clooney decided to take some of his peers to town in last year's now rather famous Esquire interview.

While Russell Crowe bore most of the brunt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and his entourage, also found themselves in the firing line.

Clooney recalled a basketball match with Leo's crew which ended rather embarrassingly as, despite talking a good game, DiCaprio's side lost...

"The discrepancy between their game and how they talked about their game made me think of how important it is to have someone in your life to tell you what's what," he explained. "I'm not sure if Leo has someone like that."

We spoke to DiCaprio this week about the comments and he defended his friends against Clooney's remarks.

"Hell yeah, they’re good people," he told us, exclusively. "It’s a mixture of actors and non-actors – guys I went to school with. And guys that I met in the industry, such as Kevin Connolly and Tobey Maguire."

He was also keen to attack any assertion that he was living an Entourage lifestyle.

"It’s interesting because people think that you live in Los Angeles and you’re automatically initiated into some sort of country club," he continued. "But it is always the hustle. You’re always the outsiders trying to get your foot in the door."
