Given that it's everyone else's favourite film of the year (including you, right?), it's no great surprise that President Barack Obama has singled out Richard Linklater's ambitious coming-of-age drama Boyhood as his film of the year.

"Boyhood was a great movie," Obama admitted in a new interview with People Magazine. "That, I think, was my favorite movie this year."

Michelle Obama was less positive about this year's crop of movies though, only bringing up Gone Girl and stating that: "The book is much better than the movie."

According to his Facebook page, Barack Obama counts Casablanca, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Lawrence of Arabia and the first two Godfather films as his favourites,

His public love for Boyhood is yet another bonus for the modestly budgeted movie which is currently the red hot favourite to win Best Picture at the Oscars. It's already received a raft of critics awards. It's unclear whether Michelle Obama's "sick burn" to Gone Girl will affect its awards chances.
