A visual guide to Quentin Tarantino's film references

Quentin Tarantino is a "film makers' film maker".

That's not to say he only makes the kind of movies that require a PhD in French silent cinema to understand - far from it.

Amidst the gore and studies of cool in his cinematic stories, Tarantino has been educating his fans with a wealth of classic film references: musical queues; borrowed shots; lighting effects; each a gentle nudge in the ribs and knowing nod toward the man's favourite flicks.

For a taste of just how layered Tarantino's films are, YouTuber Jacob T. Swinney of Weird & Rare has created a three minute montage of some of the best visual references to crop up in the likes of Kill Bill, Jackie Brown and Django Unchained

You could say that he's a master of pulp fiction.
